I have floors in my bathroom that are horrific! They continuously squeak in all seasons. I'm putting new flooring down so I plan on screwing the subfloor to the joist as much as possible before laying the new floor. Any suggestions why I have access to the subfloor? I have access underneath via a drop ceiling.

If at all possible add a bead of sub floor glue on top of the joists (or at least wherever you see gaps between joists and subfloor) before screwing down the sub floor material. For the most the use of screws over nails is a much better practice in sub floor attachment IMO.

I screwed down the subfloor ever few inches and still the squeaks were as loud as before. I did some more research and it appeared that the wall was actually causing the problem. I read an article that mentioned if the wall was nailed to the subfloor and not the joists noise could result from movement. I have nothing to loose so I removed the baseboard and inserted some shims where possible. I used deck screws and screwed the wall into the joist on an angle where the baseboard was to conceal them. No more squeaks!
