My First Deck

Here's my new deck. Not finished yet but now that the roof is done the rest will be easy.......Whatcha yall think?

The picture is hard to confirm but it looks like you have no ceiling joists to complete a triangle in the roof design. I see a stiff leg at the end of your ridge board but pick up the ridge board is not sized as a header to carry the existing span. If this is the design you actually have you need either ceiling joists or collar ties installed to complete a triangle design because a common 2 by ridge board can not hold the roof up by itself.

Also, what are those 4x4's sitting on? The corner ones are obviously structural -- are they resting on those larger 6x6 posts that go into the ground, or are they just bolted to your joists? Bolting can work, but they had better be large and multiple fasteners.

Some of the 4x4's may not really be load bearing. Can't be sure because I don't know the spans and can't see how large your headers are.
