Anyone want to venture a guess on the best way to transition from an enclosed vented soffit to an open gable eave covered in a 2 piece metal on a 13 3/4 in 12 sloped roof. The open eave is 11 inches wide going over shingles and the fascia board is 1 5/8" x 12 in turn transitioning to a metal roof.
The fascia trim will tuck under the metal roof edge, across the thickness and back up the inside of the fascia board 1/2". From there it will be a modified "J" channel 11 1/2" x 10 1/2" x 1" to cover the shingles. This in turns runs down to the vented soffit which is flat (level to the ground).
Maybe I'll send a picture of the unfinished product tomorrow.

This one we will definitely need a picture. I am picking up two roofs one shingle and one metal but then you have wording of open gable end.

Come to think of it, I think I'll start my own quiz.
Good luck, brave souls.
Answer:....Caulk.......(and lots of it !!!!):beer::beer:
PS...I am only joking , that's a tough transition. You could always bend up some aluminum.

Pushkins,
Sorry it's not Tuesday. Caulk truck comes on Tuesday (Sider's Creed).
Here's the before pictures. I'll let you guys guess and show you the finished corners later.

continue a wooden frame around the corner and sheet it in the same way.

To me this is what we call a bird box. I use 2x2 to frame straight along the bottom off the gutter back then 2x2 back to another 2x2 off the soffitt nailer along the wall. this makes a square box that is then covered by the same material the soffit is done with most commonly.
Fischer, your pictures are much better to understand than your written discription. Also this question takes about 30 seconds to answer versus the parking lot taking a lot of time to create and answer. His question is more like a tough one question test hoping you get 100% on the test instead of 0 on the test. At least your question can be done all in the same day.
Just my opinion

Nailer along house was extended out with 2 x 4 to match trim, and then white coil stock vertical to meet up with gable.. End of fascia board squared off to match rectangular 4 x 6 gutters. 2 x 2 installed on inside of gable fascia board for a nailer to screw vented soffit to.
Gable fascia will be covered in gray metal and down to the end of run, and then small brown triangular piece to the end of brown trim
The inside of the gable fascia will be covered in copper metal and will have a down light (J box top of picture 3) and an uplight (J box middle of picture 4) to reflect off the metal. Picture 4 shows the detail where I left off the last corner of the deck to allow for lighting. Kind of fun thinking about it, but a bit of a bear doing it.

I carried the soffit around both sides using the 2x4 method previously mentioned. Here are some pictures that may give you some ideas.
