A-Frame Cabin

I am thinking about building an A-Frame cabin on some remote property. Since it is off grid I was hoping to pre-fab and haul in the sections. Has anyone done something like this? Any advice or plans? Not settled on post and pier or someother foundation.

Well as far as foundation is concerned, 24x24" patio blocks with cheater blocks on top would work well, You should inset a heavy screen in between floor joists to keep rodents out, and depending on the climate insulate over top of that.
You could then build your walls in 8x8 sections, dry fit, number each piece transport and reassembale on site or buy/ rent a gen set and do it all on site, that is what we did for our camp which is boat to only.

Thanks for the welcome and yes those are good ideas. I have a genset with my camper that is currently there so that will help with construction. I have thought about the foundation like that. I also thought about maybe doing a full basement on concrete block. Right now I am in search of the perfect, yet easy plan!

It always comes down to $$$. I have thought about just having a foundation poured for a basement then maybe doing dry stack concrete blocks later as time and money permits. Believe it or not there are not that many plans out there. In the 50's and 60's all kinds of kits existed. I guess I am just behind the times.

Well if your just thinking, and not doing, I can't help, there is a HUGE !!!difference between what could be & what can be. All it takes is money & time, and you will need alot of both.

I absolutely agree! But right now I am planning. I don't like to make mistakes and I don't like to do, do overs.... so a proper plan is in order. Still looking for the perfect size. I have the land and my own dumb labor... so i am partly there.

I hope you have gone from planning to actually building. I'm the same way, do things right the first time. I also have been planning to build a get away cabin but only in my back yard. Years ago I planted pine trees and redwoods in order to create a campground effect. My problem is $$ but one day...I hope.
