These are probably a coule of wierd questions. But I have some camping property and a I have purchased a steel septic tank that i am going to install. On the top of the steel septic tank is an inspection port. It has a bead weld and the inspection port is off centered. What I am trying to figure out is which side of the tank is the input side and which side is the output side. I was assuming the inspection port was over the exit side but I am not sure. Are these tanks usually stamped... maybe I have just not looked in the right place. Also what is the purpose to weld the top? Looks like on first inspection you just break the bead and slde the lid over.

thanks.

On all septic tanks the inlet is always closer to the top of the tank than the outlet the inspection port can be on both ends but it sounds like it is on the enlet side of the tank take a tape and measure the inlet and the out let and this should give you the answer your looking for
