Not sure this is the best place for this question but here it is regardless.

My master bathroom's ceiling is 1/2 8' std. ceiling and 1/2 vaulted ceiling, my new shower is under the vaulted section (16') the ceiling in the vaulted section is pretty much taken up by a skylight (opening) and the depth from drywall to shingles is about 12". My question is I need to mount and exhaust fan in the bathroom, putting it on the flat section of ceiling would render it useless as the shower's steam would head straight up to the vaulted ceiling and skylight area, can I mount and will it work a standard ceiling mount exhaust fan on the wall that transitions from the 8' ceiling up to the 16' vaulted ceiling?
I don't care if I have to go upmarket as long as it works ?

I've seen them installed in skylight tunnels, so I'd think you can mount them on a vaulted ceiling too (way less steep than a skylight tunnel). I'd just try to get it over the shower or some place "upceiling" from that shower.

The problem is the ceiling thickness from drywall to shingles is 12" max. there is no access to this area, to make matters worse the vaulted ceiling in the bathroom is 4' wide 12' tall at the lower end running upwards to 0" at 16' (sharp point) at the upper end, (why the previous owners had this addition built like this I will never understand) that's why I was wondering would an exhaust fan work mounted to the wall high up near the peak of the vault, I can gain access to the side wall of the vaulted ceiling through the original attic.
