Our camper is a 1986 Fan Camper. Recently when we were going to use it, we have it parked at a camp ground. The circuit breaker was making a loud pinking noise every minute. We ordered one breaker and replaced it but it is still making that noise. We are scared to stay in it until this problem is fixed because their might be a short somewhere. When we left the last time I left the electric hot water heater plugged up and turned the water off. Could this have over heated? The heater still works. Could you give me a idea as to what we need to check? Thank you..

Is this a circuit breaker inside the trailer? If so, what brand is it, and what is it protecting (is it the main breaker, the circuit for the water heater, some other circuit)?

It sounds like something is arcing. Best to look at it in the dark, or disassemble things and look for signs of arcing (burned spots, melted metal), especially on circuit breaker bus stabs.

The water heater should be fine as long as you didn't drain the water tank with the heater on. Even if you run your drinking water tank dry, you'll still have full water in the water heater.
