If they are near a water source they would. I think the measure is 2 feet.

There is no linear distance rule. 210.8(B) only requires them for bathrooms, rooftops and kitchens. In addition, you can choose to put them where ever else you like, but the general purpose ones out on the salon floor do not require them.

Ron is correct;
GFI protection is not required in a beauty solon except in the bathrooms. Definition of a bathroom is a vanity and either a shower, bathtub, or toilet. Nothing in a beauty shop matches the above definition of a bathroom but a bathroom.
The sinks for a beauticians are not considered an area requiring a GFI protection.
