Recently I have been installing a 1200 amp disconnects and transfer switches for several generators. Instead of trying to get exact measurements from the wall to the pipes and distances between pipes with a tape measure and trying to transfer them to my enclosures I used a piece of cardboard cut to fit the bottom of my equipment.

Then by placing the cardboard on top of your pipes and gently tapping the top of the cardboard over each pipe with a hammer you will have a hole in the cardboard for the location of each pipe. Then just lay the template in the bottom of your enclosure and trace with a marker. This will give you exact locations and save alot of time especially if you have several pipes and a very heavy enclosure which you cant afford to make a mistake on.

Hey, thanks a lot for that tip! I've already had helpers hold a panel up on top of the stubs while I traced around them with a Sharpie onto the bottom of the panel/junction box. That cardboard trick is nicer, since it makes for a one-man job. It doesn't matter how nicely I set up stub-ups, or how well I think I've secured them, it seems that the concrete guys manage to get them screwed up with some regularity. That cardboard trick will come in handy... thanks!

Your welcome. Believe me I know what you mean. Been there and done that. I hope it will help you as much as it has helped me in time and aggravation. good luck!
