Went fishing last week at Scotsboro Alabama. This is an empoundment of the Tennessee river and is quite huge in size with many large coves and inlets. Where I live in Indiana we have seen no sun hot enough to think about a tan. When I got there it was in the high 80s with clear skies and hot sun. I would show people my new tan lines but the lines are much to RED Hee Hee, Uh. Fishing was slow. Caught some ranging from 2 pounds to 3 pounds. No size this fishing trip. I still believe this lake to be the hottest big bass producing lake in the nation. I have experienced many great weeks with good numbers of huge fish and best five fish weighing 20 pounds plus. However just like all lakes you have good days and bad days in fish producing. My thoughts are any day fishing on the lakes we have is a great day even if raining and no fish. Loved every minute of it. My next fishing trip is planned for Lake St Claire at the Canadian border. I have never fished there but going with a group that has. My next new adventure.

Good fishing

I haven't been fishing in years. I use to fish on a regular basis when I was younger. Catching: catfish; silver bass.......and etc.. My grandfather loved to fish! I guess I can call him a fisherman. I missed it, yet, since I haven't been for a while, I'm sure casting an anchor may take me awhile...........LOL! This is when I was living in my homestate Michigan...many years ago!!

Wg glad you had a good trip, our season started last fri and between the rain and unexpected issues I have'nt gone yet, this is the 1'st time in 8 yrs I did'nt make opening day, Saturday is looking good weather wise, so if all goes well we should get at least a day in, buddy tells me water temp at his camp is at 58 degs so the small mouth should be makin the beds, sounds like a liitle top water action may be possible, I have this funny lure here called fog wild, made in Canada, they went out of business a couple of years back, I had no luck with it on smallies but I bet largies would love it, send me a pm with your adress and I mail it out to you.

Do you have tiny torpedos in your area. Black is my favorite. I used to go to Canada near Manaki Onterio part of the lake of the woods. The tiny torpedo was our hot bait then. We used to go there the 3rd week of June. Smallies were in the shallows along the rock walls. We used to bounce the torpedo off the rock wall letting it fall against the rock and water meeting. Top water was fabulous. Love seeing the smallies jump in the are and do a flip when fighting them. Smallies are in my opinion the hardest fighting fish in the sport. Problem was at least once a week trip up there I would be cutting a barb off to remove a hook from someones finger or thumb. Seen two fingers sewed together, hook in a cheek, hook in a guys lip sewing both upper and lower lip together. Good thing was the smallies would sit still till you relaxed then flop like hell not only hooking you but driving the barb clear through. Made it easy with a pair of side cuts to remove the hook but it sure hurt like the dickens. Still love smallie fishing.

Good Luck and let us know how you do this weekend

Wg: I wish you could come here for some N.B. small mouth, we don'nt have the same bait fish as does ONT, mostly, white, perch, sun fish, And I do know smallies like warmer waters, but lets not forget, they like any other living creater, become accustomed to the habitat, the smallies here never settle down their flopping around in the boat somthing terrible, There is a little spot, called Hansons Cove, which is a joint ownership between the the Canadian & US Goverment, as well as Bow Water Mercey Pulp & Paper, you would not have to get a Lic, a Lake full full full of big smallies, and pickrell, I would Love to take you there, and what about yor mail adress, I really wnt to send that Lure.
