Got back a few hours ago from Truman lake. We had our 8th annual UAW Classic qualifier today. My partner and I pre-fished Friday and Saturday. Hit a stump and tore our trolling mounter bracket out of the decking mounts Friday. Repaired it but lost most of the day. Saturday we caught two keepers in 8 hours also Friday we cauht two keepers (must be 15 inches) before the trolling motor thing hapenned. Today during the tournament we ripped out the trolling motor again but managed to jury rig it and got us through the day. We caught two bass during the tournament for a total of 5.55 lbs. The biggest was 3.73 lbs. Crazy thing is this won the tourney and also won 2nd big bass. Fishing was as tough as I have ever seen it on Truman. The fish we caught came on buzz baits from shallow water. Very unusal for this time of year. Most of the summer bite on Truman is plastic worm in big trees on the channel swings or spinner baits and jigs on tree rows if its windy. None of these patterns held up. Anyway smallest winning weight in any tourney Ive fished. Sometimes you have a little luck thrown in to save the day.
Water temp 81
Clarity : clear (4 ft. visibility)
Sunny to partly cloudy
Wind SE at 5 mph
Fishing on the lake for all species is poor but was still great spending time in the outdoors with good friend.....RL

You have days or even weedends like that ! Been there done that too. Wiped out props, broke skag on bottom of motor, motor blew up having to be rebuilt [twice then gave up and bottom another gas motor] {OUCH !}. Got ticket for running too fast, hit storms and even felt like I was freezing to death a time or two. Boy I love FISHING !!

Good time on a bad weedend and won on top, sounds great with the bad.

Planning a trip to the boundry waters just south of International falls end of month. Will let you know my good times and bad times when I get back.

Better times ahead for you I hope.

Y'all oughta try fishing the mountain lakes up here in Maine!! Imagine being up on plane in 25 feet of water, and in the blink of an eye, your flasher goes to 0 and you lose your lower unit on a rock the size of a house sitting 4" under the water's surface. Been there, done that. $4500.00 damage in the blink of an eye! I know of one guy in a club I used to belong to that had his motor ripped right off his transom at about 50 MPH from the same kind of thing. (of course, his insurance gave him a brand new $15K Johnson 150 ficht motor-- the very first one in Maine, so it wasn't ALL bad!).
