My girlfriend is an avid gardener and I know nothing about gardening at all. I want to learn a bit so that I can be helpful. I want to start by having a few houseplants. What is an easy plant for me to start with?

Spider plants are pretty hard to kill.

My wife's an accomlpished gardener and feels would should test out a
philidenrdrium ( not shure of the spelling ) Wandering jews are also a good easy project. and just for the fun of it try a sunflower plant outside, I tried it once and got it to 5' 6" before frost set in, I just found it a blast. good luck and let us know how you make out, use the bragg section.

Easy
The easiest house plants, in my opinion, are Devil's Ivy. They have them every where, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, They are usually in a hanging basket, can be all green leaved or varigated. They are a low light plant, so there is no need to find a sunny location. Water them occasionally, if you forget and see that the leaves are starting to droop, stick it in the tub and soak it for about 15 mins. (Make sure it's done dripping before you hang it back up!) The vines grow extremely quickly and can be drapped anywhere making your home look so much nicer. And if you accidently break a piece off, just stick it in a glass of water and watch it reroot itself! Good Luck!

Kristamy, That is the same plant I refer to as a wandering jew, I guess different communities have all kinds of strange names for plants, and lets us remeber not to confuse our new member, plants are fun, and would you agree they love music, and most like to be touched and talked to, much like your best Gal! Alot like a Woman a little attention goes along way.

I find peace lilies to be both beautiful and easy to care for. Very easy to find at any big-box store. Everyone else's suggestions are also right on the money!
