It lasts forever and never decomposes. I would not use in my gardens. Might be good for a childrens play area but not for gardening.

I'm considering it for my side garden (flowers)
I have a problem with the wood washes down away from foundation
Then I have dirt splatter on the side of the house
Hmmmm...maybe not

Ground up rubber tires have been tested as soil amendments & surface mulches, & discovered to kill ornamental plants due to its zinc content; to be a fire hazard dangerous to place near buildings; & to smell incredibly bad.
Often a single application is sufficient to kill plants

Note that garden rubber mulch isn’t suitable for playgrounds: It may contain small pieces of steel or nylon. A spokesman for the Consumer Product Safety Commission said the agency has made recommendations, but there are no regulations yet.

I have read several articles both pro and con. I have come across two that seem very realistic. One is sold at Ace called Rubberific and other is a Dupont product sold at Lowes. I didn't care for the one at Home Depot since it looked like small rubber particles. I'm going to do a small section of my yard and will update this post!
