I am trying to communicate with a DSC 1832 panel using DLS2002 software. I have downloaded the latest version but when the computer connects to the panel it times out waiting for the panel to communicate back to it.
I am using a pc-link cable, I selected as modem "direct comm between two computers", I have selected the correct RS232 port, but I don't know what speed should I choose for the communication.
Can you please help me.
Thanks
Eduardo

How are you connecting the PC-Link to your computer?

If you have a serial plug on your computer then I believe the default com port for the DLS2002 is port #6.

If you are using a USB to serial adapter...this may be your problem. The "highly" recommended adapter by DSC is the Keyspan USA19-HS. It works 100% of the time. Most others are known to have problems with the interface. You can find the Keyspan at larger computer stores, on eBay, or at www.keyspan.com.

You do NOT use the DLS protocol in the installation manual for the download. The correct protocol is listed on page 36 (?) of the manual under DLS2002 connection.

Connect the PC link to the plug on the panel, start the DSL2002 software, then go to the keypad and type in *8 [IC] 499 [IC] 499

IC = installer code

The communications should now be enabled.

Thansk for you answer it worked.
Anotherone that works with a generic USB to Serial converter is to upgrade your driver to the latest.
I am using a BAOYU converter with the Prolific Ver 2.0.5.111 driver and it resolved my problem.
