Well I got my son moved from St. Paul to Menomonee, Wisconsin even managed to get the sofa from hell my son purchased at a local furniture store though a door 2 inches to narrow. Great how they tell Dad of these things after you show up.
Anyway no fishing as planned. Had my daughter along and she became very ill the second day. Stomach flu I think. So brought her home to get well early today. Maybe next time......
I did notice while I was up there that many of the lakes had what I guess you would call pea green water. Is this a severe algae bloom? Can you still catch fish in these lakes? I noticed that it was big lakes and small. Dont know if if water depth plays a roll or time of year but would guess if algae bloom then temp and sunlight probably big factor or is it another cause?......RL

That is a growth not like what your are used to. When fishing through that green layer it is like that green layer is not there. Dip your hand in the water and you can't catch much of it even on your hand. It is like little dots of green not connected to anything but just floating on top of the water. Does not affect fishing other than shade the water below. [may increase fishing in this shading making cooler]. When you draw a fishing line through it it leaves a clean line in the water where the string came through and that line you made is there all day.

Makes no harm or change to the bad concerning fishing. Very common in northern lakes. Not matted or rooted like the growth found in southern lakes at all.

Just my thoughts

Ok I see what you are saying as I spoke with some locals while up there and they seemed to think I was nuts being concerned about the green water. I was very impressed with the diversity of fishing opportunities Wisconsin has to offer. The St. Croux river fishery was especially attractive. I didnt have my boat with me as needed my truck to tow trailer and load the bed up also. Was going to connect with some locals my son has become friends with and fish a few lakes in Polk county. Wapogasset and Bear Trap lakes was our destination. Good walleye fishing they said and the bite was pretty good for time of year. Fishing technique was trolling Little Joe spinners with chubs and night crawlers as I understood. Not sure what Little Joe's are but my impression was some kind of in line spinner and harness. Anyway I am already planning a trip taking my boat and daughter back for another try at it......RL
