I would like to use one 1 1/2" romex connector for 5-14/2 nm-b w/g cable circuits into my breaker box. Is this against nec regulations? Can I run more than one cable through one romex connector? If I can what is the limit? Is this against nec regulations?

The NEC has a generic requirement that all electrical items be listed (UL) for the intended use, and that manufacturer's instructions be observed. With that being said, most 3/8" romex connectors (the regular ones that fit into 1/2" knockouts) are permitted by the manufacturer to clamp multiple cables up to (2)12-2's or (2)14-2's. The big connector that you wish to use is rated for single and multiple cables, but of MUCH larger gauge sizes. I know, I know... you see on a somewhat regular basis where someone has run 20 romex home runs through 1 big 2" squeeze connector. The simple fact is, these big connectors are not rated for multiple small romexes. When you buy your romex connectors, you should read the label on the outsize of the full boxes. This gives you a table of what gauge sizes the connector is rated for, and what combinations of multiple cables are allowed. I havn't personally seen any squeeze connectors that are tested and manufacturer rated for more than two cables, regardless of size.
