Sitting in my living room, I looked up and saw a water stain on the ceiling. Found out my upstairs bath is leaking at the toilet.(wax ring) After removing the vinyl, sub-floor, and the toilet, I cut out about a 2' X 2' section of rotten wood.
Now, what's next? I want to replace the wood with new wood, right? Well my concern is the joists. The toilet mount has a joist right in front of it, and the next joist is located behind the wall. So installing a new wood piece would require a support (beam) for the side close to the wall with no support, which is impossible due to pvc plumbing everywhere!
The distance from the cutout to the next joist behind the wall is approx 8", I am stumped here. I am including a couple of pics before/after. Thank you for reading and for all time spent helping me!
