I am redoing my shower and want to replace my shower valve. I heard much debate on a valve with soldered joints over one with threaded joints. The new vale is a Moen Posi-Temp and it has threaded connection. Is it OK to use this type of valve? I want to be sure before it's all sealed up in tile!
Thanks in advance!

Should be fine. I used threaded for my shower 2 years ago. no problems yet. just be sure to tape the threads and check it in a couple days to be sure it sealed. Unless you really like to solder pipes. UGGH!:adore:

Preference is genuine only to an individuals opinion. My philosophy is "they wouldn't sell it if it didn't work". Holds true 98% of the time.

Oh yeah, consider pex.

Either one will work. I prefer to use teflon pipe dope on the threaded ones. If you are using copper, remember to open the valves before you solder or solder the copper to the male adapter before you install it in the valve. After you've finished flush the lines and then quickly turn off and on the valve several times, and then wait a night if you can to check for leaks.

I actually prefer to solder whenever I can.

You have to be really careful though, poking a flame INSIDE THE WALL is an easy way to have a house fire.
