This is a 15+ year old bathroom sink drain that has recently started exhibiting patches of white residue at various points along the elbow. There are also a few spots showing what looks like copper corrosion (blue-green), although the pipe is chromed and assumed to be steel. There're also signs of slight historic (dry now although the sink's been used today) leakage from where the pipe joins to the sink.
Should we clean off the corrosion to see if there are obvious weak spots?
Should this pipe be replaced?
Thanks!
