Last year I installed a basement watch dog pump next to my pedestal sump pump (which I plan on replacing soon...any recommendations???) I drilled a 1/8" hole a few inches above the discharge pump to prevent air lock. My issue I have is that ever since I installed it, anytime after my AC pump discharges and shuts off, I get a slurping type sound coming from the 1/8" hole near my back up pump (if I cover the hole with my finger the noise goes away). The pumps both seem to work fine, but I just want to make sure that this isn't a sign of some problem.
Also, I do have a check valve on both discharge pipes before the pipes meet.
I live in a pretty hefty clay bed, so during any wet weather, my pump gets a pretty good work out. So this is why I'm also looking at replacing my current what looks to be 10 year old (judging by a label on it...it was here when I moved in) cheap AC pump.
