I just installed a new kitchen faucet, and when the faucet is being used with cold water, when I shut it off, I get a little bit of water hammer. Doesn't seem to happen with the hot. Anyway, I picked up a Sioux Chief water arrester with compression fittings on either side of it to mount inline with the cold water supply. Under my sink, there is a gate valve for the cold water shutoff and after that, a 1/2" copper tee with a male threaded fitting. I've got a fitting that screws to the 1/2" copper and then the 3/8" braided compression supply to the faucet attaches to that. I figured that I would run a short piece (about an inch) of 1/4" Pex with compression fittings from the supply, to the arrester, and then attach the faucet supply to the arrester. Since it is under the cabinet and could be potentially bumped around, should it be secured somehow? There doesn't seem to be anything on the arrester to use to mount it, and Sioux Chief's website seems to show them just hanging out in space.

Thanks,
Greg

Copper should be strong enough to hold anything in place. PEX or ABS or any other type of plastic will need bracing of some type. You could use a longer piece of PEX and run it to the back of the cabinet and hang it all there. Just remember that the arrester needs to be vertical for it to work.
