Hi,

I am thinking about remodelling my bathroom. I am thinking about putting in a frameless shower.

It does not look like a whole lot of work ? How difficult can it be ? I would be grateful for anyone's experience in this ?

Thanks.

If you are relatively handy then this is probably a 3 on a 1 - 10 scale (10 hardest). Most of the shower kits come with a detailed instruction sheet in a step by step process. You will need to drill holes in any tile work, so make sure you have a good drill and "good" drill bits (sized to suit).

I did a couple of frameless showers about 4 years ago in my house. I got quotes and they are really expensive :help:. I did a couple of them for about $500-600 each. When I got them quoted they were about $1500 each.

Found these guys on line who were pretty good about walking me through it and ordering the glass. Actually they help you with the design and then send the specs to a glass foundary (or whatever you call it local to you) and you can pick the end product up there. But you can buy the hardware from them.

http://www.wilsonglass.com/ [No I'm not affiliated with them, it is just the only ones I could ever find for a DYI to order on my own. Everywhere I searched I got the normal recommenation to get a professional].

In anycase it wasn't that big of a deal to do.

They also sell a lot of the related hardware etc. If nothing else it is a good place to start educating yourself.

Thanks for the link
I'm going to be installing a frameless shower of sorts
But only (1) 5' wall will have glass
The other 3 walls will be tiled - bordering other rooms
It's actually going to be a steam shower, so I need it to seal when closed

Dave,

Make sure you get the suction cup. Makes life easier when you are working with these things, but I've also taken to using it for lots of other things glass related (holding windows, mirrors etc).

Also have a look at theshowerdoorstore.com there you can customize your shower enclosure (Basco), This is the company I use a lot for showers.
