Hello,
I am looking for some advice on how to finish the general lighting in a basement family room and bedroom. Family room is ~ 12ft x 12ft and bedroom is ~ 12ft x 16ft. Both have ~ 7ft high ceilings. I will be putting recessed lights in both rooms (dimmers on family room - therefore CF bulbs not option as far as I can tell).
I am confused as to the usefulness of 3" at Home Depot (or 3 7/8" at RONA) pot lights (6 for $60 CAD for either) that have 50 W GU10 halogen bulbs compared to 4" pot lights (6 for $90 at HD) that take PAR20 bulbs.
Any suggestions on spacing, types of bulbs, heat from halogen bulbs being an issue. I will be installing soundproofing insulation and therefore be using the metal boxes as per code.
