Does anyone know what this weed is and how to kill it? I've got a yard full of them. I thought it was creeping charlie, but everything I've read says that has a purple flower and thrives in the shade. This weed has a yellow flower and thrives in the sun. They've been a problem for a few years now and that's about all that grows anymore.2140

Does it have sort of a funky smell? (like when you mow the grass, or right after?)

I think it looks like Creeping Charlie. I've seen the stuff grow in direct sunlight, and I never seen it have a purple flower. (unless I am extremely mistaken)

I think it is Oxalis weed.
Oxalis weed has pale green leaves with distinctive triple heart-shaped leaflets. It is often confused with clover. Small yellow flowers (http://www.ehow.com/how_2093933_identify-oxalis-weed.html#) with 5 petals dot the stems. The scientific name for this weed is "O. corniculata."

There are weed killers out there that will take this little pest out.
one of them is Ortho Weed-B-Gon Chickweed, Clover & Oxalis Weed Killer.
It won't harm the lawn.

Here is another web address for a different brand
