View Full Version : 2 wires under cable clamp

I have a couple of runs of 14/2 cables along a ceiling joist and a couple along wall studs in my addition that I clamped down together using the # 2 clamps - the Knight book (Ontario) says you "may get away with this" if done very carefully, which is exactly how I installed it - very neat, straight, careful. And this actually keeps the wires just a bit farther from either edge so I'd assume they're less likely to be damaged when the drywall goes up, etc.

I put some thought in here (figured it's a decent trade off if I keep it all very neat, and at the same time reduce likelihood of damage later in the drywall job) - not just trying to be cheesy and scrimp and save on a few cheap clamps- to me it just looks like a cleaner job when I stand back and look at it, but maybe that's just my take.

Has anyone out there done this (very carefully and neat and all that) and had an inspector fail it anyway? I seem to recall a couple of runs in the last job I did (original building) where I did this and everything passed then - but it was years back and the memory is a bit foggier now.

Maybe this is all fine and I'm once again just over-thinking things. Any thoughts appreciated...

Thanks
-Randy

Not sure what the clamps are that you are using, but if they are like an S-2 staple, you will be fine as long as the wires are lain flat against the surface and not standing on edge.

yes - sorry for my poor wording - these are the S-2 staples that I'm referring to as "clamps"

thanks for the feedback...
