I'm not sure what made me think of this, but I remember this setup from about 20 years ago. I rented an Apt in a house that had been converted from single family to 5 Apts
Convoluted corners & weird setup
Kitchen had only 1 surge protector for power

I decided to take a look to find the 2nd receptacle where the surge was plugged in
Well, it wasn't plugged in
It was wired into the Stove receptacle !! ??
I didn't mess with too much electric back in those days & decided to leave it alone

I'm curiuos now as to problems with this setup ?
Other then it was probably not to code
It only had 120v, the surge did have a little circuit breaker on the side. It had hot, neutral & ground wired to the same on the Stove connection

Since code only permits 120 volt receptacles to installed on 15 or 20 amp circuit it was code violation. The circuit breaker on the surge device was better than nothing but it was still wrong.
The main problem is the wire from the stove receptacle to the surge device was probably #14 or maybe even smaller and it was protected by a 40 or 50 amp breaker. Any short in that cable would have most certainly burnt the wires up.
