Well, no pics but really ticked at the way this PVC drain was run for the bathroom sink. I replaced the trap under the sink. It was not lined up right & had the flex pipe that was not smooth - jagged edges
Put it all back together, still backing up after water running full force. I figure it must be the sink stopper mechanism jammed up with hair. Take that apart - clean it out
Running better but still backs up

Go look in the basement
They ran down 16"+ to a 90 elbow, then 1' across to another 90 elbow, then 2' across. THEN it goes down to the main drain. Plenty if room to run a nice slope to the main drain instead of the 3'+ of almost level run :(

So off to HD tomorrow to get more parts & do it the right way:banghead:

But also plenty of head room in the basement. You may find all kinds of goodies in there.:santaclaus:

Maybe I should cut it out & look for stuck jewelry :)
Hate to see what is in there that clogged up a 1.5" pipe

Never know......

If possible try to use wide sweeps or 45's. If they plumbed in short radius 90's or vent 90's then it a great place for hair to collect. Try also to use minimal cement. Excess can cause drips and collect hair also.

Once you have it all apart, make sure you check out where it connects to the main drain. Once a drain starts clogging it can back all the way into the main and then start backing back up again.

You read my mind !!!

Turns out the clog was right at the PVC/cast connection
The snake may have opened it partially up, but doubt it would have cleaned it all out.
I cut it off above the connection, cleaned it out

I'm going from a 90, 90, 90 to a 45 connection to main drain

down to

45, 45, 90 connection to main drain

The last 90 connection is to allow a cleanout trap to be placed in a line with the PVC/cast drain connection. That way if this ever happens again it's an easy clean-out
But with the angle of the drain changed & the new 45 slant to the drain pipe I doubt it will be a problem

I just love drano fumes.................
