hello all
im new to your forum, but i hope you can help me and maybe i can be of help to others. i am currently buying a 1989 basscat pantera II from my father in law. i took it out today to test things out to see what TLC it needs. i found that the trim switch from the throttle lever will raise the motor alllll the way up out of the water in stead of hitting a stop spot of max height trim. also the fuel gauges are not working properly. i played with the wires of the fuel gauges and figured out that it is probably a connection or gauge problem. the volts peg out, again when playing with the wires on back i got it to read but could not tell if it is a connection or gauge problem. could not test boat long as i noticed real early that the impeller needs to be replaced. it had a very weak **** stream at low rpm's, and i was not taking chances even though father in law stated he replaced it recently. ( for him recently may have been two or three years.) my biggest concearn was with the tach. it is not working. the boat has a 150 mariner magnum II, and a 4 blade prop (the prop is stamped "dominator" and has "y336" on it. i think it is a 24 pitch but have not been able to find any info on it.) if someone can tell me where or who makes dominator props it would be helpful.. i ran at 54.3 mph on the gps but did not open it up all the way and could not tell what the rpm's were. where should i start checking for the tach problem. i have a feeling that it may just be a gauge problem cause when i give it throttle the tach will jump at first but then nothing esle. .. your thoughts would be helpfull....
thank you
