Monolithic or std. footer and slab ?

My concreter is telling me one thing and the draftsman another, so I'll ask you all here.

What is better (for a detached garage) a monolithic slab or a standard footer with bricks and slab poured internally:questionmark:

I guess it would depend on how stable the soil is.

I know up here you never build a garage on a brick footer with the expectation that the walls will not warp and buckle with the changing seasons.

With no basement or crawlspace, such as in a garage, you pour the floor with an "overhang" to allow the thickness of the brick plus an inch or so.
