View Full Version : Nails or Staples for Hardwood Install

I'm about to start laying down the hardwood in the kitchen (white oak). A buddy will loan me the weapon of my choice (flooring nailer or stapler). He said that he prefers nails but didn't have a reason.

Anyone have an idea or opinion why to use one over the other?

ok, I'll answer my own question.

Looks like staples have greater holding power especially when going into a sub-standard subfloor.

Depending on the type of nail, it may be more apt to splitting as well.
