Is there a drywall attachment for a regular drill instead of buying another drill?
I already have 3 drills, 4 saws...maybe another drill will even it off
But I was hoping to just buy an attachment

I found this, anyone used this?

Yah, I think it's called a drywall dimpler bit. You can find them at the big box store at the checkout. Works fine. Much cheaper than a dedicated drywall gun, especially us guys that don't do that for a living.

Thanks, saves me from buying one or driving to a friends house to borrow his. $3 seems like a great deal, tired of using the drill

I bought one of those. Piece O' crap. Don't waste your time. I can set the depth more consistently just by paying attention and using a standard screw driver bit.

Don't waste the $0.50. Go rent a real screw-gun. I did my complete kitchen (walls and ceiling) plus parts of two other rooms with one screw-gun and one cordless drill/driver (with standard screwdriver bit).

BTW, if you do try one of those be sure to practice on some scrap drywall on a 2x4.

I bought a new drill which is more powerful. So it's taking me some time to adjust. My old drill the keyless chuck is messed up & I can't loosen it to change the bit
A new chuck was 1/2 the price of a new drill..soooo....

I think rather then buy a drill I'll borrow my friends

Did it still countersink the screw too deep?
Or did it tear the paper as it came in contact?

I use one of those a lot for small repairs. Works great, just don't push too hard.

One screw would go too deep, the next wouldn't go deep enough. I tried it with the the clutch on my drill / driver locked as well as trying to adjust it. Maybe my drill just has a crummy clutch.

The real drywall screw gun (I borrowed from a friend) set them perfect every time (and extremely fast).

I bought an attachement that is like the screw gun
I'll give that a try & see how it works
Wed afternoon I am renting a drywall lift to finish up the sunroom. The ceiling is 12' up, this should be fun

Attachment worked great!!
It's made by Vermont American
I picked it up at Home Depot for $15
It has a Spring & works just like a screw gun
Also has the magnetic tip which is great

12' drywall lift was $21 for 4 hours & went great
Room is completely drywalled!!

Now I need to finish up the 2nd floor electric & have that inspected. Then insulate & drywall
Then have someone mud it!!

We might actually be able to move upstairs before Spring

I share your objective in finding an attachment rather than having to buy yet another drill. Where did you find the attachment pictured? Have you since used it and found it satisfactory?

You can buy the "El Cheapo" version of that drywall bit at almost all the contractor end check outs at Lowe's or H.Depot or in the tool department.
