(This sounds dumb but here goes...)
I have these 40 year old tiles throughout my basement which I believe are asphalt. They are still in farly good condition but on one spot a large chunk got taken out when I accidentally dropped a heavy object on the floor and thus breaking a piece out. It chipped out right down to the concrete floor.

I'd like to patch in the divot somehow but have no idea how. Reason, I use the room as sort an indoor workshop where I work on electronics, appliances, etc. I use an old rolling office chair and it always gets hung up on the gash. Does anyone have any ideas? I could care less about aesthetics. (It's a basement for Pete's sake!) Is there some sort of filler that might work?

Thanks, Junk.

Epoxy. Mix it up, fill the hole, smooth it off with a plastic scraper.

Glue the piece back in?

Cut the hole square and steal a piece from under your work bench or in a closet to fill the hole.

Both good ideas, Thanks guys.

Joe- If I cut a piece from an inconspicuous place and glue it in the hole, what sort of glue should I use? The old ones are glued with a tar-like substance. (The chipped out piece is long gone, because it was several little pieces...)

Thanks.

I've had good luck with fiberglass patches. It's the two part stuff with fiberglass matts that you cut to size. When hard, it sands pretty easily too. I'd like to know what you go with and how it turned out, thanks!

BOA, where do you get the fiberglass patches?

JC, I got an Elmer's Fiberglass Repair System at Lowes. I would think any big box store would carry it. FYI, the kit did not include the fiberglass matts, but they were in the same isle, just the 2 part solution. Oh and disposable gloves are a must.
