I have a Olympus Camedia digital camera and until recently, if I connected the camera to my USB port on the computer, it would open a browser window through MY PICTURES that would allow me to pick the ones I wanted, then delete them back off the computer in one step.
This window does not pop up anymore, and I cannot figure out how to troubleshoot.
I have a Dell Dimension 2300 Desktop series, Pentium 4 processor with Home Edition Windows XP operating system.

Check your options in the camera related software installed on the computer.
The associations would likely have been set at the time th camera software was installed on the computer. Other software / windows updates, etc., may have conflicted or changed those associations.
You may have to uninstall the software, reboot, then reinstall the software in order to restore the associations, if you can't find initially in any of the options that reset these defaults.
Another thing that can sometimes help should the camera be listed under hardware, is to delete the hardware, reboot, and when you plug your camera into the usb port, it should come up and indicated and go thru the found new hardware routine.

Are you describing the software for the camera or the Windows XP photo wizard?
I can't use the software for the camera......nothing good about it but the Windows wizard was easy because I could load images through my computer straight into MSN picture albums by just clicking a button.
I can still do that.......but I am missing the link to load images off of a USB port into My Pictures folder.

Love XP, can't run it though, need to upgrade my computer first.
I am sure even though you are not using all the camera software, that there is a driver that was installed when you first used the camera, although windows cp may have have found it it it driver base. Some basic driver software assoc. with the camera must be there.
I am a bit confusd on rather it is something that automatically starts / opens when you plug in the camera or it is a link perhaps on the desktop that is missing
If it autostarts then I suspect that that it is a program that may autostart and runs and monitors for a camera connection that may not be autostarting anymore, that porgram is always checking in the background. That could be in the options / settings of either the camera driver software or thge photo wizard within windows. Sometimes reinstalling software will reset it but don't do that if you are not using non-windows software.
If it is a link you click on, then the program could still be there and it is a matter of finiding the exe program file and making a shortcut to it back on the desktop.
I wish I was more familiar with your camera and xp photo wizard but have neither available to experiment and check to give you more precise answers.
