What pipe parts would I need to accept gas from a torch propane tank?

What is the application?
You will find many propane fittings and adapters at a larger hardware store or fleet supply store.

The application is for use in a small jet engine, and I just need to know what kind of part is needed, and if possible a picture of what I might want to look for.

Here is what I think you need. It adapts 1"-20 throwaway thread (the kind that is on disposable propane tanks) to 1/4" NPT thread. Then you can use whatever kind of pipe fittings you wish.
Look for Mr. Heater brand accessories at stores that sell those heaters. There usually is a large display.
Good luck with your project.

... a one-way valve to prevent burnback. I'm all in favor of tinkering and I've always got some kind of warranty-voiding project going on, but I never get that warm and fuzzy feeling when I read about using potentially flammable / explosive gases in new and improved applications.
Not to doubt your technical ability, or anything, I'd just hate to hear about you on the 6:00 news!

Good Idea! Although explosions where the fire goes back into a pressurized vessel are rare. Oxy Acetylene torch sets have such a feature. (flashback arrestor as it is called) One thing I forgot to mention in one of the earlier posts is I hope the OP has some sort of a regulator installed after that brass fitting. Also very Important!
