Is there a code provision that tells the acceptable size for settlement cracks in commercial parking lots? I have heard that, in Florida (where I live), there are provisions that allow de minimis settlement cracks in concrete porches on new residential construction. I was just wondering if there are any similar provisions/standards for commercial parking lots in new construction.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Now you asked a confusing question. Logic may not travel along with us on this subject.
If you install a parking lot that is directly associated to a building then the Code lightly touches on it. Grease trap in drainage is most important concern. I know of no max or minimum settling allowance on an existing parking lot. However there is marking of spaces to park minimums and there are handicapped marking of spacing. Other than that the rules are kept quite simple.
If you have a parking lot remote from a bulding not butting to the building the IBC does not govern this installation at all.
Most parking lot rules are found in the planning and zoning using local rules for your jurisdiction. I suggest you contact your local inspector to confirm any local building rules that may be added to the code and also check with your planning exec to find any planning rules found locally in your jurisdiction that may apply.
Hope this helps

Heh. Unfortunately, logic doesn't seem to have travelled with me in quite some time. Thanks for the reply and information WG. I'll do some additional legwork on chasing down any applicable local rules/ordinances.
