I'm debating between getting the $250 Senco SLS20HF and the $200 Craftsman 18169 tongue and groove stapler. I own a bunch of Senco nailers, so I know their quality. Not sure about Craftsman, although they look and feel okay in the store, but the 18169 model is only available online.

One thing about the Senco that makes me hesitate is that it drives perhaps a rare size of 3/16" crown 19-gauge, whereas the Craftsman drives common 1/4" crown 18-gauge. I already have various sizes of 1/4" crown supplies for my other stapler.

Any comments or recommendations either way?

It depends on how much work you do. I can see spending more on a commonly used nailer, but how much will you use this? After hearing you say that the Senco takes nonstandard fasteners, that makes me choose the craftsman. Most all the craftsman tools I own are fine quality. I have a friend that owns a craftsman brad nailer and he is extremely happy with it.

They both will serve you well. If you already have staplers that shoot 1/4" inch crown staples than I would lean toward the craftsman.
