I have a fountain pump in the backyard that is connected via extension cord to the outdoor outlet. I unplugged it once because I would be gone 4 days and was afraid it would run out of water. When I plugged it back in, it wouldn't work.
I've tested the pump directly to another outlet and it worked. I plugged the extension cord into another outlet and connected a radio and it worked. I plugged the radio into the original outlet and it worked. I put a circuit tester on the outlet and it indicated all was OK. I replaced the extension cord and bought a new pump earlier in the summer when the same thing happened? I suspect it is the outlet but the circuit tester indicated it was ok. What have I missed?
