I was planning on running aluminum MC cable in the pool house for all lighting and outlet branch circuits as to keep mice from chewing through it but looking at 330.12(4) it seems I can't do this? Any opinions greatly appreciated.

IMO, i doubt your pool house would be considered destructive corrosive conditions, especially if mice can live in it. I wired my regular shed a couple years ago with MC cable, durable stuff. good luck.

I would assume you are worried about the chlorine?
I wouldn't think the concentration could get that high where it would be a problem. If it did, you would have a problem breathing in there

My pool cabana is wired w/UF-G, pool has been there quite a while
I did (may still) have mice, they chewed on other things - but never the cable
All of my cable is run above 3' - most along the top plate

I'm a DIY homeowner

Thanks, I thought it was a little crazy too and ment for industrial usage but just wanted some opinions. Old shed had NM and mostly everywhere on all the horizonital runs the mice went to town.

Thanks again!

The UF-G is much tougher then NM or NMB
Its harder to cut, harder to chew on

Did they stop when they hit bare wire? :heeeelllllooooo:

Nope, cleaned the insulation right off the hot and neutral! Had 3 bare wires as if you dipped it acid. Circuit was GFCI protected and would trip mysteriously over night... Luckly no one got hurt as this part of the cable was up on top of the plate behind a shelf with the stereo on it.
