I have an old house with a 12 x9 enclosed back porch-(used for storage and circuit box) the floor is an old concrete slab over fill (apparently)--when I finally decided to clean it up I noticed the floor was collapsing in spots--I discovered several tunnels and even some babies!--Now, I am not into killing or poisoning them, but any suggestions how to drive them off? I will probably build a new floor with pressure treated joists but I want to completely collapse the fill first..
maybe loud radio, ultrasound? whatever.....any help appreciated..thanks :(

If I had your problem I would buy and set a live bait trap box with bait near the main hole. Remember they like a main hole and an emergency escape hole.

I take it if you found the babies you can get to them. Pick up the nest including dirt around the nest including the babies. Do not touch the babies.

Take a drive to a far away woods. Set the nest in a dark area not easily seen. Set the trap by the nest so the hog can see the nest and her babies. Open the cage and go back to your car and leave. Come back two days later for your trap. Hog and babies will find them a new home in the area unharmed and not bugging you.

Be very careful with a full grown groundhog, when cornered then can and will fight enough to keep a full grown large dog at bay if they are not used to fighting groundhogs.

Let us know how you come out.

Good Luck

thanks WG-I'll try a live bait trap--you are so right about them being mean..When Iwas a kid I had a collie who loved to hunt them..We spent many a summer day digging out rock piles......thanks again :)

Couple of trick I heard for getting rid unwanted guests.
Get some ammonia and soak a rag. put into a can and stick it into the area. The smell will drive them out.
Stick a light in the area and leave it on all night. A work light on a cord works well for this.
These are tricks I heard for squirrels and raccoons in an attic or under your deck.
