This site is one of the best out there for giving information about building, fixing, and remodeling one's home. What is deal with these clowns putting advertisements on here and trying to sell things?
Here are two that I noticed that showed up recently:

Why do these turkeys just join this site to irritate us? Some of us are serious about asking /answering questions here.
Just my rant.

When you see spam, click on the red triangle at the upper right in the blue bar near the posting number, and you can report the post as spam to the moderator that way. He'll then move it and hopefully ban them.

Junkcollector, When we discover spam we move it to a restricted area with no redirect. This makes the post disappear but gives us time to try to track down the spammer to report for the violation and nail him if we can. I am the one that found the spam and moved it to the restricted location. We watch for it all the time so you guys don't have to deal with it. That is part of owning this web site.

Thanks for that info Mr. Goodrich. I didn't quite know how to handle it / who to tell.

Any reason why some of us "select" members no longer have the ability to do this?

Only appointed moderators and administrators have the authorization to move or delete threads. If you want a certain subject to be a moderator of that subject let Don or I know and we will see if we can appoint you as moderator of that subject. Moderators have authorizaiton within their appointed forum subject to edit posts. Only Don and I have authorization throughout the forum to edit posts due to security and safe keeping of the web sites. Just email Don or I if you are interested in moderating a certain subject.
