Hi..

I just moved into a new condo and I need to install a new outlet for a dishwasher and a garbage disposer.

There is an outlet that I can branch of near the kitchen sink.. it would be easy to run another outlet directly under that one which would put it under the kitchen sink.

Is that ok or does it go against code?

thank you!

Kitchen counter receptacles are not permitted to supply any other devices. If your source is a counter receptacle then you must find another source.

If I recall, the general convention for those types of items is to run a private circuit for each. Dishwashers, garburators, and trash compactors all require high amounts of power for operation (albeit for short periods of time). I stand to be corrected, but I believe private circuits are required by code.

Besides, you probably shouldn't put an outlet under a sink. Too much danger of a zap if your sink leaks.
