I'm a newbie and don't really know where to post this so I'll try here. i had a small pond renovated 2 years ago this September. Being in a drought we haven't had enough rain to fill it let alone keep it filled. it's also seeping I think due to sandy conditions. does anyone know a cheap liner that can be used and should it be covered with dirt or rock afterwards. I'm wondering if a 6 mil bisquine would work or possibly getting some clay delivered?

To work the bottom for leaks you need to pump out the lake and keep it pumped while installing your cure.

Clay will work if about a foot thick and compacted to 90% compaction each 6". Then install a silt clay mix about a foot thick as topping in the pond. Make sure the pond is at least 10' deep to limit weed growth. Airation is a good idea too. Add to the mix above by adding 6 mil plastic sealed at joints with one foot overlap layed between the pure clay barrier and the silt clay topping.

Good Luck
