Unidentified 4" Steel Pipe

Can anyone tell me what this does, what it would be for? I am thinking of taking it out. It goes in through the wall of my house and from there I cannot trace. I can rotate the stem sticking out from the house as far as the ground will allow. I have two photos attached. One outside showing location and one inside showing where it would come in ... if it came in (X marks the spot).

Looks like a vent.

Does the house have or have had a fuel oil furnace by chance? Could be a tank vent.

Get a stud finder that finds metal.. Should have no problem tracing something that bulky through the walls.
