I have a very large job to do and no experience. A lot full of all types of weeds as tall as me. Using a weed eater it very quickly gets wound tight with weeds. Is there anything that I can do to make this job easier. All I have to use are rakes, the weedeater and a mower. I have to get it cut because of the fire hazard and I have very little time. Any suggestions?:banghead:

If the weeds are big, the nylon line won't do it. You need to get an adapter with some kind of hard, serrated, plastic blades. Otherwise, you will be bumping line out forever.

Check into renting a walk-behind bush-hog. It will make easy work of the tall weed and allow you to maintian the area with your weedeater.

Two ideas:
Try cutting first at waist level back and forth . Things are usually skinnier there, you'll have somewhat smaller pieces flying around, then you can plunge into the area instead of swashbuckling.
Use the biggest string you can put on your spool. I have .105" string and can cut down blackberries and even small tree branches (3/8" or less). Has no problem with grass or big weeds.
If you can't get something in the .080 range or thicker, use the blade type adapter if you can find one that fits your wacker.

I'd spray them with a heavy dose of round up a day or 2 before mowin them down otherwise they are established enough to quickly grow back. Dont use brush killer as it takes too long and they wont be dead by the time you cut them down.
A few days when they start turning brown should be good as they will still be green enough to cut easily. If they dry out its gonna be a pain.
