Well opening game fish today (all but Muskie). Afraid with cold water as of yet good results will require much searching. With spear fishing still on, limits have been cut so drastic(walleye) another shortage of fishermen I'm sure will be the result.
Hey good fishing to all this comiing year! Still beats working!! GL2 All

Sure do things different up your way. Here in Kansas they never close a fishing season. Only thing that is restricted is spoonbill catfish and trout. The trout are actually stocked into some of our small city lakes on March 1st every year and then season lasts until they are all caught or die when the water warms up. Here in Kansas we troll crankbaits and drift jigs tipped with night crawlers for the most part to catch walleye. The last 5 years or so the big walleye tournaments have been coming to Milford Lake, Kansas. Alot of the techniques you use up your way are starting to become popular in these parts as fisherman find success using them. A fellow from the upper pennisula of Michigan showed me a new jig and pig (actually jig and twister tail from Kalin lures) method that nearly won me the tournament I fished on Truman Lake last weekend. Weather went bad (rain and wind) or think I may have pulled it off. Anyway goes to show you can become a better fisherman by never closing your eyes to other ideas from different parts of the country. We have muskies in some of our lakes in Missouri mostly though the best fishing is Pomme De Terre Lake. They have Tiger muskies (I'm told they are a hybrid) and they have destroyed several of my lures over the years. What a fish!!!! Anyway, good fishing to you and let me know how the bite is going up there....RL

Fishing slow on walleye here water still cold, some males have been gotten, not by me yet. Expect a warm up this week. Actually like the Northen (taste & texture) as much as the walleye. They are hitting course there always hungry.
