after all of my work in the basement I found yet another leak in the pipe for our bathroom sink, probably opened up cause of my wrenching on the pipe in the basement. this time the leak makes total sense and at least made me laugh...when I opened the access pannel I see that the previous owners used hot glue to attach the end of the trap to the drain pipe...no wonder it leaks.
anyway while I was in there I saw the vent pipe for the sink but it doesn't seem to go anywhere. somewhere between the sink and the light bar I installed 3 months ago the vent pipe ends. it certainly doesn't come out the roof. The sink is less than 4' from the main vent stack and the tub is about 8" on the other side of that stack. Can I just wet vent the sink or do I need to take a vent pipe up through two stories of who knows what and out the roof?
