Starting to catch some real slabs this past week and a few hybrids mixed with whites. These are pictures of some of the fun I have been having since retirement. White bailey's magnets, kalins blue pearl grubs and chartruese and orange umbrella tube jigs have been the best producers... fished on 1/8 oz heads. Crappie are at about 15 feet on the channel edge in the big feeder coves. Water temp is 55 degrees and walleye are finishing up their spawn. Watched fish and game run the nets on the dam rip rap yesterday and boy did they have some big eyes!!! There were some in the 10 pound range! I've only boated 3 walleyes in 2 weeks but in about a month we will really be catching them when they move up on the mud flats to feed on the shad.
This retirement thing is pretty cool...I get up in the morning and decide what lake I want to try and I go fishing. In another week I can get up in the morning and decide if I want to fish or hunt turkeys....heck...if I throw the turkey gun in the rod box I can do both.....life is good. What is it that they say? Oh yeah "wish you were here".....Sorry guys just couldn't resist that last comment. I hope work is treating you all well....see ya on the lake or in the woods.....
