I recently had tenants with a second line. I disconnected the service and now want only one line in the house. I have an older demarc box (4 post) in which there were two pairs on each tip and ring post for the second line. I transferred these to the main line.

Problem:

I have tested all jacks within the house and they are good, but only my main phone rings, answering machine does not answer, and second phone rings speratically, usually after three rings.

Any ideas??? Thanks in advance.

Fixed.

The second line from the street was not hidden behind the box, and I figured it needed to be rewired with the basement phone to the main line. This caused all the problems. Once I switched the second street line to the second posts all is well.
