Okay - so I don't shop for toilets every day... in fact I have never shopped for a toilet before. I will be replacing one very soon... are there any "features" I should be looking for? Any brands that stand out? Do toilets fall into the "you get what you pay for category" or can I go cheap?

Thanks!

Look over your existing toilet. If you were happy with it then look for a design matching what you have. The toilets are governed to the manufacturer by the ANSI Z124.4, ASME A112.19.2, CSA B45.1, CSA
B45.4 or CSA B45.5. Basically all toilets must meet minimum performance requirements in those rules. There are other types of toilets in advertisement showing something new or neato but they all must meet the minimum and usually do.

The cost factor is basically color, shape etc. Otherwise what I am saying is you are paying more for look and visual appeal to match the decor you wish in your home. Mecanically they are mostly the same basically.

Good Luck
