So my pipes froze, and I thawed out my washer... BUT...

...it's a disaster.

Pipes froze, so I grabbed a hair dryer and placed it inside my top-loading Maytag.

It sat in there a good 45 minutes, warming the machine.

The next 45 minutes, I ran the dryer from the shutoff valves on the floor, slowly up the hoses, then up to where they meet the machine... resting on that point for most of that time. Likewise, I devoted a good bit of time along the drainage hose.

I walked away a few minutes, and came back to the sound of water spraying.
I looked behind the machine, and water was spurting inside, a good trickle at multiple points coming out of the machine.

...Any ideas? Did it freeze so bad that some weak plastic valve cracked inside?

I can still do laundry, but it simultaneously creates QUITE a flow exiting from the back as well.

In order to not run water all day, I have to turn the water off at the shutoff valves in the floor. The flow continues even if the machine is not in use.

Any ideas?
And does the front just "pop off" so I can swing off the top and take a peek?

Something inside the washer has split open from the freeze. You will need to open the machine and take a look.

Be very careful thawing the lines like you did. A house burned to the ground here just last week from some one using a heat gun to thaw pipes.

Oh, definitely. Houses burn down CONSTANTLY in this town it seems. I have too much awareness to become part of that statistic. :p

I say "walked away a few minutes", but that was in truth 6 feet away, to do dishes since I'd just unfrozen THOSE pipes. :shot:
